A Língua Brasileira de Sinais: breve revisão de literatura

Abstract

The research that resulted in this work had the theme of special education in Brazil, with a delimitation of the theme on the teaching of the Libras - and the education of people with hearing problems. The problem that motivated her was the realization that even though there is a national public policy aimed at the just insertion of the person with special needs in society, the intention ends in legal texts and is not effective in practice. Therefore, the justification for conducting a research on LIBRAS and the education of deaf people is the fact that it is necessary to deepen the issues related to the theme, so that knowledge about people with hearing problems is produced and disseminated. The general objective of the research was to describe the teaching of LIBRAS. For that, specific objectives were: to analyze the historicity of the treatment of society with people with special needs, to consider the route of the special education offer in the country and to verify the historicity and legislation of the teaching of LIBRAS in the Brazilian territory. The research carried out was characterized as descriptive with a qualitative approach. Articles, monographs, dissertations and theses were searched, arranged in journals indexed in the Scientific Electronic Library Online - SciELO - and Google Scholar. Legislation relevant to the theme and contributions from authors of printed books were also used. The research results expressed that the teaching of LIBRAS overflows the communicative needs and reaches the historical-identity construction of the deaf community in the country. However, despite all the theoretical-legal apparatus, the social inclusion of the population with hearing problems is still inefficient. Furthermore, methodologies based on bilingualism are important teaching paradigms, which today, when properly applied, express an integration between the culture of the deaf and the listeners.
