The Moju River is the main tributary of the municipality of Mujuí dos Campos-PA, being
a river of paramount importance for the municipality, and is used for various purposes.
The present work presents a physicochemical study of the water quality of the Moju
River from the parameters, pH, electrical conductivity, temperature, dissolved oxygen,
turbidity, nitrite, nitrate and total phosphorus. Three water samples were collected at
three georeferenced points on the Moju River, between April and June 2022 during the
rainy season. It is known that the analyzes of physical-chemical parameters are an
attempt to gather information about water quality in order to identify and monitor
possible negative effects on human health or the organisms that use these resources
and that there are many ways to evaluate the quality of water in water bodies, however,
the physical-chemical parameters stand out and are normally used as quality
indicators, in line with what is recommended by CONAMA resolution 357/2005. The
data obtained point to a significant variation in the parameters studied in relation to the
different collection dates, and also, values presenting small variations between the
collected points, which in a way evidence a homogeneity in the analyzed path of the
Moju River, which is in the area center of the municipality of Mojuí dos Campos-PA.
The concentrations of Nitrite and Nitrate and the values of Turbidity and Total
Dissolved Solids were the only ones that were normal and within the limit set by
CONAMA Resolution 357/2005 for class 2 waters at all analyzed points.
