At the beginning the thermal comfort, focused its studies on indoors, today it is subject to several researches on free spaces, although its study is complex due to the interference of great amount of variables. The present work had as its overall objective to evaluate the influence of vegetation on thermal comfort index in squares of different morphological settings in the city of Santarém (PA). It were measured temperature and humidity simultaneously in three squares of the city, in two periods of the year, being a rainy and another less rainy in the region. The sensors, protected by suitable shelters were installed in squares, being one with direct exposure to Sun and other previously defined in the shadow of trees, with the exception of the Cais de Arrimo square, in which an instrument came under the shadow of a roof. The instruments used were microloggers, HOBO U10 model, brand, which recorded data for five days in each experimental phase, twenty-four hours for day. The data was unloaded in HOBOware software Lite, 2.7.3.1 version, and later exported to Microsoft Office Excel©, 2010 version. For an inferential statistic, it was used the application Bioestat® 5.0 . It was adopted the index of Temperature-humidity of Thom (1959) for estimating thermal comfort range of searched environments. In addition, questionnaires were applied to users in the local of data collections, with the objective of assessing the subjective thermal perception in these spaces. In comparison, intersquares, the square of the park with the best profile of vegetation, presented the best results in two phases, with less values of temperature and temperature-humidity index, mainly due to the shadow. In comparison intrasquares, the best results were obtained on the instruments in the shade of vegetation. However, it was found that there was little relationship between the index of Temperature-humidity and thermal perception subjective, indicating that other factors interfered in the opinion of the users of the squares. It was noted that the temperature is the variable that most influenced temperature-humidity index. Seasonally, significant differences were found in the variables and measures of Temperature-humidity index. It is concluded that there was influence of vegetation on thermal comfort index in squares of different morphological settings in the city of Santarém (PA).
