The aim of this study was to preliminarily evaluate the biofloc systems versus the recirculation system to verify if the biofloc system is efficient for future superintensive experimental crops at the IFPA Aquaculture Research and Production Station-EPPA using the water shrimp. Native sweet Macrobrachium amazonicum. In this preliminary evaluation, the water quality parameters of each system and the survival rate were measured. The results indicated that both systems were within acceptable limits for water quality and the survival rate of the biofloc system showed close values for M. amazonicum shrimps in super-intensive recirculation cultivation with medium stocking densities.
