O setor madeireiro em Itaituba, Pará: satisfação de empresários e bem-estar de trabalhadores
Resumo
The economic exploitation of timber, when practiced through sustainable management, brings
economic benefits to the region with low impact on the environment, and can be very
beneficial to regions that have an abundance of raw material, such as Itaituba-PA. Moreover,
evaluating only economic factors and income generation may be insufficient to define that a
given productive sector promotes quality of life for the society in which it is inserted. The
purpose of this study was to study the satisfaction of entrepreneurs and the subjective wellbeing of workers in the timber sector in the municipality of Itaituba, Pará. The qualitative
method was used to study the satisfaction of entrepreneurs, being the instrument for data
collection the semi-structured interview. After the transcription, the intervies were analyzed
using the Discourse of Collective Subject (DSC) method. Research with the workers was
carried out using the quantitative method, using a questionnaire instrument with indicators of
personal well-being in the organizations. measuring the level of satisfaction of the
respondents in aspects related to the work environment ( using a 5-point Likert scale ). These
data were tabulated and analyzed by descriptive statistics, using Excel for Windows® and
Statistical Analysis Software (PSPP), version 1.0.1. The results indicate that from a business
perspective, there has been a significant decrease in legal logging in recent years, mainly due
to the excessive bureaucracy and negligence of the State, allowing unfair competition with
people who act illegally in the Itaituban market. Despite an adverse scenario, there is
satisfaction with the industry, prevailing the idea that they like the activity and intend to
continue struggling to achieve professional achievement. Concerning the subjective wellbeing of workers in the timber sector in the municipality of Itaituba-PA, the average number
of grades attributed to the level of well-being reflected a level of 61%. Workers' welfare was
strongly influenced by issues related to Environmental Support (73.25%), and Autonomy
(42.25%), which deserves greater attention, aiming to improve the level of well-being of
workers. It is necessary a joint action between government and companies in the municipality
to improve the negative aspects found in the present study, improving the dialogue in all
environments, made possible the more flexible action, both through public policies, actions of
public servants involved in the sector. Changes in the internal environment of the companies
surveyed, could improve the satisfaction of the people in this sector
