The present research has the objective of studying and analyzing water pumping through
photovoltaic panels in two communities in the Tapajós Arapiuns Extractivist Reserve in
Santarém Pará. This was done through a bibliographical and field research in the Resex region
where participating in meetings, of conversations and monitoring the installation of
photovoltaic pumping systems. Aiming to subsidize the development and implementation of
the system that starts through a feasibility study where the Center for Advanced Studies in
Social and Environmental Promotion - CEAPS, whose fancy name is Projeto Saúde e Alegria,
develops participatory projects promoting the development of rural communities, starting
with the local reality and the needs of the community for the development and
implementation of the project. The methods used in the research had the combination of being
explanatory and descriptive, since we spent two years participating directly in the activities
within the reserve, observing closely all the particularities. According to the bibliographic
study developed, it is possible to show that the photovoltaic pumping system is a favorable
alternative for implantation in isolated communities, be it in the environmental, sustainable
and even economic aspect. In addition to realizing that the data of the world health
organization are alarming, regarding the mortalities related to lack of drinking water and basic
sanitation. Finally, the viability of these systems for the implantation in the communities was
verified, whose necessity already is enough accentuated.
