Recycling is of fundamental importance to reuse raw material. With it, new mineral
extractions are avoided, national ore is conserved, generating less environmental impacts.
This work aims to list the amount of iron, aluminum and steel produced, processed and
recycled in Brazil from 2015 to 2019. This is a quantitative research that used the annual
reports from 2015 to 2019 as a data source. 2019, offered by institutions that survey numbers
about Brazilian mining, like as Brazilian Aluminum Association, National Mining Agency,
Steel Brazil’s Institute and the Union of Iron and Steel Scrap Companies As a result, it was
found that iron production is more intense in the states of Minas Gerais and Pará, with raw
iron being the one produced in greater quantity when compared to processed iron. With regard
to aluminum, its largest production is in Pará and its total gross production, in tons, was
232,880. In the case of steel, its largest production is in Minas Gerais and the total production
observed was 166,857 tons. Finally, it is noted that Brazil is a power in the ore industry and,
therefore, recycling should be encouraged in the country as a way of reducing environmental
and social impacts.
