The solid residues production is one of the biggest problems faced by the world’s population. The direct disposal of urban waste organic fraction in sanitary landfills causes many environmental impacts, including the generation of greenhouse gases and reduction of landfills’s shelf life, in addition to ending all economic perspective linked to the use of these wastes. The accelerated urbanization process, combined with the increasing consumption of durable and disposable products, has caused a significant increase in the volume and diversification of the solid residues generated by the population. Thus, the charge of managing these wastes has become a task that demands specific actions. The big obstacle consists on the creation of environmentally efficient and economically appropriate solutions to solve this problem. In this context, the use of alternative and renewable energy sources using the organic fraction present in solid residues, such as anaerobic digestion becomes increasingly viable. The present work focused on the evaluation of the energy generation potential through the organic solid wastes biodigestion generated in the Popular Restaurant of Santarém (RP), in order to identify the technical and economic viability for the implantation of a biodigestors. The RP does not have reuse instrument for the wastes produced, discarding all organic waste improperly. The sanitary landfill of Santarém receives 152 tons of garbage daily. Regarding it, this work has the purpose to reduce the organic waste discarded by the restaurant and present a viable and ecological alternative that can be adopted by other restaurants, fairs, and even residences. The results show an organic waste generation around 34,747 Kg/day, which is equivalent to the production of 2.31 m³ CH4/day. Initially, the RP is saving about 227 reais in the month with cooking gas. The investment return analysis showed that the project is viable, the return time will be 13 months, corroborating the feasibility of the project.
