The objective of this work is to analyze the application of a regionalised thematic proposal with a Science, Technology and Society (CTS) approach to teaching physics from traffic situations and to identify in what aspects this proposal allows a broader training of students. The proposal of regional themes that supports this work occurs in three stages: Presentation, Deepening and Production-Evaluation. The theme "Physics in traffic - an analysis in the city of Santarém-Pará" allows subjects related to mechanics, to be worked in a contextualized and motivating way for the students. The choice for the theme was motivated by the fact that all of them, directly or indirectly, are part of the transit and can apply physics knowledge to a possible decision making, which is one of the main characteristics of the CTS approach. As educational product didactic texts were elaborated to be worked in the three moments and that prioritize the local context lived by the students (Santarém-Pará), emphasizing problems and real situations found in the transit of the city that allow relations with Physics. These texts were prepared for the 1st grade of regular high school and implemented with a class of this level of education of a public school in Santarém. The implementation of the proposal was based on the three moments and the texts supporting these three moments. As instruments of data collection in the implementation were used: teacher-researcher's logbook, questionnaires answered by the students, recordings and works produced by the participating students. It was sought from the collected data to make a description so that from it could be interpreted the processes based on the methodological references. For the evaluation of the students in groups and individually, some criteria were used that are based on the characteristics of the CTS approach, such as: critical reflections on the presented situations based on data / facts; conducting discussions leading to decision-making; proposition of changes of attitudes and values for themselves and for others from the knowledge acquired with the work. It discusses the challenges presented with the implementation of the proposal in the face of the reality in which it was applied and some guidelines are made to teachers who wish to use the didactic material.
