Turimo e pandemia: os impactos da covid-19 no Estado do Pará

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic spread quickly across the world, affecting the economy, and especially the tourism sector, due to the health restrictions imposed by the World Health Organization (WHO). This study aims to analyze the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in the State of Pará. To achieve this objective, a bibliographical research was carried out, through a survey of scientific publications, aiming at the construction of this literature review. It was found that the impacts of COVID-19 on the tourism sector in the State of Pará, with emphasis on the municipality of Santarém. They can be observed especially through the air flow, which had a reduction in the number of passengers, especially in 2021, when the number of tourists who disembarked in the region was a little over a thousand international passengers. In addition to the transport sector, hotels, food, entertainment and leisure were greatly affected, increasing the damage to the economy. In Santarém, the events sector suffered a major impact due to the cancellation of cultural and religious parties and festivals that are part of the state's calendar of activities, which negatively impacted the municipality's economy. With the help of the federal and state governments, the tourist flow in Santarém is being resumed, increasing the leisure and entertainment sector, in addition to expanding other necessary services for the tourist to be well received. It was concluded that tourism, as a driver of the economy, was greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and currently, the resumption of activities has been articulated with a focus on biosecurity protocols necessary to offer tourists safe spaces, with control and treatment of the pandemic
