This work presents some considerations on school learning evaluation starting by listing some authors and their definitions on the theme and discuss Portuguese language teacher’s goal in the perspective of evaluation. Then describes the periods and characteristics of traditional evaluation in language, focus on the bases of traditional paradigms. It also discuss the construction of qualitative/formative paradigms evidencing the paradigm in construction: its limitations and construction, overall makes considerations on official documents about teaching considering many levels of these instruments are still in the world of the traditional approach or if they presents advances considering that the recent paradigm is different of the classic form of evaluating and if Portuguese teachers of researched schools follow tem orientations of official documents as BNCC.
