For improvement of the wood drying processes are needed experimental analyzes and
the use of physical processes’ governors laws. The models used in the initial heating, the first
stage of drying, express transient heat conduction problems and simplified boundary conditions,
which for simplified cases have analytical solutions. In this work, a mathematical modeling of
the transient heating of a wood board was made using empirical equations to calculate the
thermal properties of the material. For the solution of the model, an algorithm based on the
discretization method of parabolic partial differential equations was created using the explicit
method. The temperature distribution in the study body was obtained across the time. The
heating was simulated for different thicknesses, specific masses and some temperature profiles
were calculated. It was verified that the method has low error and can be expanded to foment
the decision about program of drying program.
