The expansion of the beef cattle market in the country is mainly due to its adaptation to the tropical climate, making the country one of the world leaders in meat production. Brazilian livestock has prominence in agribusiness, with 213.5 million heads in 2020. This puts Brazil in the spotlight as the 2º largest producer and exporter of beef. This work seeks to understand the functioning of the beef cattle market through the gathering of information in the metropolitan region of Santarém/PA, seeking to contribute and inform about the sector in the region. The specific objectives are: 1- Understand the evolution of livestock in the Brazilian scenario; 2- Present process of consolidation of livestock in the State of Pará; 3- Analyze the livestock economy in the metropolitan region of Santarém through the preliminary survey in the beef cattle market. As methodology, the study was conducted through a qualitative/descriptive research and semi-structured interview. The results show that beef consumption is huge and growing, and the increase in demand has stimulated investments in cattle ranching, slaughterhouse, butchers among others, bustling and economy in Brazil and especially in Santarém.
