This work, entitled "formation and the manifestations of expectations of the stricto sensu Education postulants/students of peripheral university", whose objective is to verify the epistemological pos-ture of the postulants and students of the PPGE-Ufopa, especially in what concerns to the open or rigid/closed posture in front of the knowledge. More precisely, in what way the subjects of research establish a relationship with the goods of the hegemonic culture and the way in which they study and understand knowledge. For this, the profile of this post-graduate student/student stricto sensu is drawn up, who until recently had no access to this level of education and verifies the objective and subjective implications in his education. In order to better circumscribe the analysis, the study in-vestigates the motivations, the mishaps and the learning of the research subjects in the master expe-rience. The research dialogues with previous studies in this field to outline some concepts such as epistemological posture, objective and subjective availabilities, collection constitution, new student and peripheral university, especially with the studies of Britto (2004; 2009), Britto et al. (2008), Gomes (2010), Castilho and Britto (2009), Santana (2011) and Corrêa (2017) and master's level study in Britto et al. (1999). For the data production, the research was made use of two questionnaires answered through Google forms®: one applied to the postulants to the masters at the moment of entry, composed of 32 questions and another one applied to the students and postulants of the PPGE-Ufopa, composed of 19 questions. In addition to the questionnaires, a conversation was held with a group of seven students of the master's degree in order to clarify some data. The analysis counted on the data produced with the questionnaires, conversation wheel and with the personal perception of the researcher, as research-pain and subject of the research. The results showed that the profile of the students is in many ways close to the "new student" proposed by Britto et al. (2008). In addition to the strict/closed epistemological posture, as observed by the researcher in undergraduate courses at peripheral universities, the student of the Ufopa masters diverges from the classical student at this level of education. As far as formation is concerned, students and postulants generally seem to seek the masters for reasons that differ from what was expected of a classical student at this level of education and seem little interested in studying the specific topics of education, more interested in the diploma and the objective advantages that this entails.
