Black pepper is a crop known for its great use as a condiment and has many medicinal properties. Among the methods of plant propagation, we highlight the production of seedlings by vegetative parts, more specifically the cuttings, which presents considerable advantages in relation to propagation by seeds, such as the maintenance of their genetic characteristics and the reduction of the formation time of the plants. seedlings to be taken to the field. Given this, the present study aimed to compare the effect of the time elapsed between the collection and the moment of taking the cuttings to the seedbed, in the setting of cuttings. The work was carried out in a greenhouse, the design used was completely randomized. Six hundred and thirty plants were divided into seven treatments, with six replications each, using 15 cuttings per plot and totaling 42 plots. The treatments were the planting time of cuttings in the flowerbed, after their collection, being: time 1, 04 hours; time 2.08 hours; time 3.12 hours; time 4, 24 hours; time 5.48 hours; time 6.72 hours; time 7.96 hours. It was possible to observe in the obtained results, that after 48 hours the plant begins to lose vigor and suffers a delay in the rooting, which will result in longer time in the seedling nursery, the ideal time for greater efficiency in the setting of cuttings. within 8 hours of collection.
