This work aims to understand the impacts of car traffic accidents on the federal highways of Paraná, with emphasis on BR 277 and BR 376, before and during a pandemic of the new corona virus. To obtain the results, the secondary method was used, descriptively and quantitatively, through data extracted from the website of the Federal Highway Police, referring to accidents that occurred in 2018, 2019 and 2020, and also from the website of the National Confederation of Transport. Aiming to survey the factors associated with traffic accidents: Relationship with humans, environmental roads and their typologies, and finally the view of the managers of the Federal Highway Police. Public policies for the reduction of existing accidents were also verified, in order to seek specialties for the improvement of these, through the vision of Federal Highway Police agents. From the human behavior objective, it can be observed that males were involved in more TA and the predominant age group was between 29 and 38 years old. Of the environmental road factors, it was found that most TA occurred in broad daylight, in clear sky weather conditions. It is believed that the occurrences happen more frequently during the day due to the fact that there are more vehicles on the highways, it can also be associated with a rush to drive, in addition to the rush of daily life can also cause stress to the driver, which can be considered an extremely negative factor. Regarding the causes of TA, lack of attention and incompatible speed stood out in the recorded occurrences. In the survey with PRF agents, it was found that awareness campaigns with strong images can contribute to the assimilation of information related to serious results of conduct contrary to traffic regulations. In this way, the public administration must pay attention to the updating and evolution of traffic legislation, so that it is in line with current needs and dynamics, seeking to ensure a safer, less conflicting and costly traffic for the public budget and aiming at quality of living in urban space.
