In the present study, its presented the results of the effort to produce knowledge in the educational field, considering the Amazonian diversity and the singularities of the floodplain region, the locus of the research, in order to understand and record the political and educational process carried out by the people living in São Miguel, during the period from 1970 to 2016, concomitant with the successful experience of the sustainable use of natural resources in the flooding plain areas (várzea) environment of the municipality of Santarém - Pará. This process guaranteed to the community members the conquest of the right of exclusive use of the territory in an area that the Brazilian Constitution (1988) determines as free access, considering the cultural, economic and political factors that support the construction of the organizational model. For this, I tried to understand the experience and the mechanisms used by the riverside that has guaranteed good results for more than forty years; Because it is a research in the field of education, I tried to understand the work carried out by the school involving themes of the daily life of the community; As well as the interaction between school-community and the contribution of both in the process of environmental awareness and political organization of the residents. The methodology consists of the use of historical records, individual interviews, focus group activities and the experiences that I experienced in the community leadership condition, as well as testimonials of the subjects directly involved in the work, which were enriching the analyzes and the fundamental conditions to understand the process . The results indicate that the territory, today under the control and management of the community, is the result of a set of strategies and collective struggles developed by the riverside ones over several generations and that the measures adopted by the leaderships from the 1970s, in context Of socio-environmental degradation in the Amazon, were not carried out in a peaceful way, nor were they assimilated immediately by all the residents, taking decades to take effect. In addition, some actions practiced by the community did not have legal support, were effected through struggles and resistances of the group, since the state project and the laws were in opposition to the interests of the riverside. Nevertheless, through resistance and collective struggles, they have been able to regionally legitimize their territorialities and legally support their strategies, guaranteeing the right of exclusive use of the territory. In this process the partnerships established with the agents of mediations analyzed during the course of the work and the participation of the school were fundamental for the construction of environmental awareness and political organization of the residents who in the last years have faced the adversities and fought for the permanence of the new generations in the fraction of the historically delimited space.
