This work presents the results of a bibliographic research developed with the general objective of knowing the relationship between practices of English teachers and motivation of students of Brazilian basic education to study the discipline, for that three specific objectives were outlined below: a) to understand positive influences of teaching practice on the motivation of students to study the English language, b) to identify aspects involved in students' demotivation contexts and c) to verify the perceptions of students of Brazilian basic education about the English teacher practices in the classroom. As a theoretical basis, the research had some authors such as Almeida Filho (1993), Krashen (1987) and Leffa (2009). 23 empirical scientific researches, published between 2010 and 2020, were analyzed. Data analysis revealed the need to encourage students with differentiated experiences. That the lack of interest in studying English is also justified by the student's fear of making mistakes, asking questions during classes, being unpleasantly corrected, not realizing the importance of knowing how to speak a language other than their own language mother tongue, besides seeing the teaching of the English language related to writing and the study of grammar. Regarding the teacher's practice in the classroom, the students affirm that the teacher needs to teach in a fun, creative, listening, respectful way with more encouragement for group participation. It is concluded that the results obtained represent a great advance on our point of view on the subject investigated in such a way that we believe we can apply them on teaching, as well as contribute to the academic community in this area of study.

Guerra dos Manao: mão de obra indígena e os agentes de interesses (1718-1732)

This article Guerra dos Manao: Colonial Administration and Agents of Interests (1718-1732) aims to contribute to research related to the colonial Amazon, with the objective of bringing the presence of governors and agents involved in the War of the Manao, pointing out the interests and stakeholders that existed behind it. The research was carried out through works already developed, documents from the Arquivo Histórico Ultramarino and Livro Grosso do Maranhão, from which I could verify that the Manao war was the result of the process of colonial expansion in the Amazon that was heading in several directions, one of them being the Rio Negro, causing the war, soon the environment became conducive to profits as a result of it. From the results obtained, I was able to conclude that the distance between the colony and Portugal favored the performance of characters, given the lack of enforcement of laws, especially the role of the governor of Maranhão, Alexandre de Sousa Freire, with indigenous slavery in the Manao war.

This article aims to understand how May 1968 is presented in the 809th edition of the magazine Catolicismo. Founded in 1951 by Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira, the magazine Catolicismo presents itself as a monthly magazine of culture and current affairs from the prism of Catholic doctrine, and on the fiftieth anniversary of the events of May 68, it brought as its headline “SORBONNE MAIO DE 68 Radical Rebellion Against the Values of Christianity 50 Years Later, What's Left? Based on the conception of the press as an active social force endowed with intentionality, I seek to apprehend the magazine's objective in bringing May 1968 into the context of 2018. So, first, I present the historical relevance of May 1968 to history. And after assimilating the time frame presented by the magazine and the methodological theoretical aspects that its analysis requires, I seek to place the magazine in its field of action, that of the Brazilian Catholic press. After this contextualization, I develop the history of Catholicism over its 72 years. From an ultramontane point of view, Catholicism condemns the events of 1968, which is credited to the social, cultural and customs changes that occurred in the last 50 years. Based on the work “Revolution and Counter-Revolution” by Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira, the magazine understands May 1968 as a revolution of trends whose focus was mentalities, and it is credited with the decline in the number of Catholic faithful in recent decades and in the context of 2018, it would be up to the magazine's readers to combat the evils of this revolution.

This research analyzes the incorporation and impact of teaching African history and Afro- Brazilian culture in the curriculum at Escola Estadual de Ensino Médio Álvaro Adolfo da Silveira. The main references used for the construction of the work were: Gomes (2012), Gonçalvez (2008), Elsie Rockwell (2007), Bittencourt (2018), Abud (2011). The research method adopted consists of an ethnographic approach, through the collection of qualitative and quantitative data, through observations in the classroom, interviews with the teacher and some questionnaires. Classes-workshops were also carried out following the perspective of Barca (2004) in the 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year classes. The results obtained reveal that the introduction of the theme in the school brought significant benefits to the students' education, such as strengthening the black identity, respect for cultural diversity and the fight Against racism. In addition, there was an increase in student interest and engagement, stimulating understanding of the history of Afro-descendants and their contributions to the construction of Brazilian society. Based on the conclusions of this study, it is evident the importance of teaching history as an instrument for a plural education, which recognizes and values the ethnic-racial diversity present in the country.
