Perfil dos egressos de licenciaturas em ciências naturais da Ufpa (Campus Santarém) e Ufopa

Abstract

This work aims to analyze how graduation training influenced the construction of the profiles of graduates from the full degree courses in Biological Sciences at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), Santarém campus, from the classes from 1994 to 2008 and the integrated degree in Biology and Chemistry at the Federal University of West Pará (UFOPA) from the 2010 to 2016 classes. Using an online questionnaire, we sought to identify the gender profile, geographic origin and average age of entry into the course, of these professionals, as well as their motivations for enter the university, the advantages and difficulties of staying in the course and what is their professional performance after graduation. Through the answers provided by fifty participants, the results found indicate that the graduates are mostly women who were born in the municipalities of the western region of Pará, entered the course aged between 19 and 21 years, had their first graduation in the degree and carried out an internship of scientific initiation, not having a formal job during the course. The main motivations given for joining were the identification with the area of Biological Sciences. The main difficulties were of a financial nature. Finally, most stayed or returned to their city of origin after graduating, sought postgraduate training in the same area (mainly specialization and doctorate) and work in teaching, according to their area of training. Studies on this subject are important for the university in order to know whether the training obtained was effective or not and whether these professionals are working in the career they have chosen.
