This study aims to understand the challenges that mathematics teachers in the western
region of Pará faced with impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing specifically on
the effectiveness of the Google Meet and Google Classroom platforms within the
context of hybrid and remote teaching. To this end, an explanatory qualitative
methodology was employed, with data collection carried out exclusively through
onlines questionnaires directed at high school teachers from both public and private
schools in the western region of Pará, Brazil. The theoretical framework is grounded
in BNCC and Cognitive Flexibility Theory, incorporating contemporary studies on
Information and Communication Technologies, Virtual Learning Environments, and
Virtual Learning Objects. The results indicate that both teachers and students have
adapted to a culture of hybrid and remote learning, in which Google Meet plays a
crucial role in addressing the educational challenges imposed by the pandemic. In the
specific context of mathematics teaching, the study suggests that a deeper mastery of
virtual learning environments could further enhance pedagogical benefits.
