The teaching of mother tongue from the exploration of the continuum between genres of the same order (in that case, the recount) in the light of Textual Linguistics and Text Genres. This work analyzes the life history and autobiography, whose theme is the life of students in the 9th grade at a public school of the Vitoria do Xingu, Pará, both in oral and writing production, describing how students perform the continuum between these genres, considering what they transfer from primary to secondary genre (autobiography), as well as what they decide to preserve in the primary genre (life story), under the criteria of cohesion, coherence and intertextuality; it is noteworthy that this attitude of "transgression" of the form does not constitute a defect of production of genre, but rather a field of discursive action, in order to produce efficient texts, without following the established models. It was presented in this work a proposal to the teachers do not work with the notions of genre as isolated manifestations, as presented in textbooks, but as possibilities for constant exchanges with other genres, observing the ways that the student chooses to make these productions. To this end, each student wrote his/her life history and autobiography. They were able to speak and write so that the two texts had enough coherence, cohesion and intertextuality, which established a continuum between them without any lost their autonomy as the format of each genre.
