Fundo Amazônia e práticas produtivas: uma abordagem documental na Região do Xingú (PA)

Abstract

The study addresses the Amazon Fund, an important financing instrument for environmental conservation and sustainable development for the Amazon biome. The objective of the research is to analyze how the Fund contributes to the strengthening of productive experiences in the Xingu region. The research adopts a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory approach, based on the critical reading of official reports of the Amazon Fund. The data analysis was guided by the identification of the main elements of the Fund's polycentric governance and the description of the project financed and implemented in the Xingu region in the State of Pará. The Productive Sociobiodiversity project in Xingu promoted the strengthening of forest production chains in the region, benefiting indigenous, extractivist and rural communities. Among the results, the reforestation of more than 2,000 hectares, the training of 1,327 people and the technical support to 1,642 families stand out. Challenges such as the limited term of project execution, the difficulty of operating in different territories and the lack of working capital, show the importance of adopting long-term strategies. It is concluded that mechanisms such as the Amazon Fund are essential not only for financing, but also for stimulating inclusive, decentralized and territorially rooted governance arrangements
