The objective of this work is to describe the development of a Sequence of Investigative Teaching (SEI) to study the physical states of water and to highlight important results achieved with activities regarding student involvement and learning. The activities were developed with students of the 6th grade of elementary school in a rural school in Santarém-PA and was developed in two 90 minute meetings with the following activities: i. Initial conversation with the class about how the activity would be developed; ii. Presentation of the problem to collect previous knowledge (initial hypotheses);iii. Conduct of experimentation through research (research demonstration by teachers); iv. Organization of students in five groups of five each to respond to a questionnaire of questions based on the experimentation carried out, but without yet a formal explanation of the phenomenon; v. Finally, based on the responses of the questionnaires, explanations weremade on the subject. It discusses the characteristics of the work by investigation and how important this methodology for the education in Sciences, as well as present in the final considerations the learning acquired by the authors, the difficulties faced and it is suggested the reading of the work for science teachers / Physics that are interested in developing research activities.
