The objective of this work was to study the standards of textuality in textual productions of the 3rd year high school students in the State School Nossa Senhora Aparecida. The path taken by the author to the approach of the Portuguese language in high school focuses on the study of the text and textuality. The following problem has been proposed as the research question: how knowledge of standards of textuality can influence student performance in textual production term? For the development of research, some standards of textuality proposed by Beaugrande & Dressler (1981) and the four meta-rules proposed by Charolles (1997) were presented to students through lectures. As instrument of analysis, twenty eight texts written by Aparecida school students were collected. These texts were studied based on theories of standards of textuality. At the end of the study, it was identified and analyzed the way how students used some elements of the standards of textuality, which may be specified: anaphoric reference elements. The results showed that the pronouns (pronominal pro-forms) were the most frequently used elements for the realization of remissions , assuming referential communicative functions.
