Knowledge must be based on a solid and meaningful basis for the students'
lives. And games appear in this scenario as fundamental instruments and facilitators
of the teaching and learning process, characterized as an extraordinary and viable
alternative to assist in such processes and favor the construction of knowledge by the
student. In this way, this work presents an approach about games in the teachinglearning process and its objective was to verify what the contributions of games in the
construction of mathematical knowledge about fractions. Soon, a descriptive and
applied field research was carried out in which games were applied to teach fractions
and questionnaires for 6th grade students of the Municipal School Mayor Carim
Melém, Monte Alegre Municipality - PA, trying to verify questions related to questions
such as: what are the contributions of fraction games to learning; how fraction games
can help with learning; what are the difficulties encountered in the games of fractions;
among others. With this, we intend to expose the results of the field research on the
use of games involving the knowledge of fractions as a method that can be used in
the teaching of mathematics. The results showed that the games are shown as a
great option in the pedagogical practice of the teacher, considering that this resource
is characterized as a tool that motivates, arouses attention and favors the
construction of mathematical knowledge.
